Psy 360:
Course Procedure
This course teaches the basic principles of behavior analysis in an understandable and structured manner. The textbook used, Elementary Principles of Behavior, provides an easy way for students to learn these behavior principles by presenting stories with characters based on previous research. This helps the student learn the concepts and principles in a simple manner. The students are also provided with homework assignments and flash cards concerning key concepts from the textbook as well as daily quizzes to measure their competence of the material.
The seminar meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays for two hours. The typical agenda includes discussing the chapter assigned for that day, asking probe questions to test their knowledge and to start discussion of the textbook's content, reviewing the homework assignment, and taking a quiz at the end of the seminar. Probes are questions concerning topics in the textbook that are important for the students to know and understand. Sometimes there will be a special lecture in which the students watch a presentation concerning an important topic.
