Gary received his Ph.D. in 1964 under the direction of Edward A. Nordhaus at
Michigan State University. He has been at WMU since then, spending a year at
the University of Michigan as a Research Associate with
Frank Harary and taking sabbaticals at the University of California, Santa
Barbara and San Jose State University.
His research area is graph theory, and his current research interests
include graph
structures, graph colorings, distance in graphs, and domination.
His nonacademic interests include Broadway musicals, show music, movies,
writing, and sports.
