Lost And Found

Think you've left something behind in Physics class?

• Anything brought to Dr. Phil will get taken to the Physics Dept. secretaries
• The Physics Dept. Lost & Found is maintained in the Physics Dept. office
• 1120 Everett Tower

Before you lose something the next time...

• It really helps if you have your name on an item
• Otherwise all TI-83 calculators pretty much look alike (grin)
• Those that have a name attached or scratched on them have a MUCH better chance of getting returned, than those that don't
• If we're talking about a valuable item (calculator, PDA, cellphone, wallet, purse, etc.), and there is a name, then an attempt will be made to call you
• If you don't have your local phone number in the campus directory, then there may be no point in calling. (Hello? Mr. Doe? You're the father of John Doe, who's attending WMU this semester? I just wanted to let you know that he's leaving his $200 calculator and his credit cards in his cellphone case just lying around wherever he goes. Oh, and Dr. Phil says that he isn't supposed to be using a TI-92 or TI-89 calculator in his class anyway, so he was risking not having his Exam 2 count this semester. Oh, you don't mind paying twice for everything? Okay, then. Sorry to have bothered you. Click.)

Good things occasionally happen to good people

• Not all expensive items and wallets disappear forever
• It is worth your time to check the Lost & Found
• If it isn't in the Physics Dept., you might want to come back in a few days or a week and see if it turned up
• Also, instructors from other departments might have taken items to other department secretaries, such as Math or Geology
• Ask our helpful Physics Dept. secretaries where else you might look if it doesn't turn up quickly
• You would be amazed at how many things never get claimed, which means people aren't even looking for them

My "technology bag" has made some unscheduled trips without Dr. Phil... and has been successfully recovered at the end of the day.
