Diversity

I am a fifth year senior at Western Michigan University. I will be graduating in the spring of 2006. I am currently involved in my early childhood internship at Northglade Head Start. I am from Grand Rapids, Michigan and have an older brother. I played basketball, volleyball, and softball in high school. I continued on to play college softball for Western on a scholarship. I have been on the Dean's list every semester since the winter of 2002. I am hearing impaired in both ears and wear hearing aids because of it. I attended a hearing impaired school for a year, and have been mainstreamed since preschool. I have been involved in many volunteer opportunities as well. I am currently on the Up til Dawn board here on campus that fundraises for St Jude Children's Research Hospital. I have also been a part of The Very Special Arts program in Grand Rapids. I was on the Athletic Advisory Board for two years at Western. I was flown to Florida one summer for a NCAA Leadership Conference, where I represented Western by myself and worked with athletes from other schools. I have had numerous teaching experiences in Kalamazoo Public schools as well as assited in the Forest Hills public school district. Therefore, I have seen to different extremes of teaching!
