From the Family Resource section of Kids Domain, I found a protocol for internet safety.   The resource is titled, “Get Internet Street-Smarts.”  I would use this protocol in my classroom as a pre-internet surfing precaution.  I would introduce it to my students as a group and go over each point.  I would reinforce the ideas presented by asking students why they think each of the precautions presented is important.  I would make a web for each point and then ask the students for examples of why it would be dangerous if they disobeyed that particular point.  For example, “Never give out personal information on the internet” is one rule to follow.  Students would say why they shouldn’t give out their personal information.  This resource is located at

From the Resources section of Kids Domain, I found an instructional sheet that describes the basic components of a computer.  I would use this resource, “Kids Domain Computer Connections Computers Inside and Out,” as a guide for students.  I would use this resource during the beginning of the year to introduce my students to our classroom computer and show them how each part works and should be handled.  It also shows students how different technologies can be used with the computer.  This resource is located at

From the Download section of Kids Domain, I found a typing program that I would like to use in my classroom someday. It is called “Flash Typing” and would be a great tool to get kids to increase their typing abilities.  I would have each student dedicate 15 minutes a week to use this program.  I think that the colorful displays and games that are involved in learning to type would really make an unbearable task enjoyable.  It also incorporates three senses to teach typing, touch, sight, and sound, so students that may have difficulty with traditional typing software will be able to benefit.  This resource is found at http://www.kidsdomain.com/down/pc/flashtyping.html
