Examples of Life Experiences Teaching Children:

My first experience was for a class that I took at WMU called Literacy 1. I went into a second grade classroom one day a week for two hours and I assisted students who were struggling with reading. I also learned the curriculum for second grade beginning readers.
My second experience was my pre-internship. For this I went to a sixth grade classroom two days per week for the full school day. I learned how to open and close a classroom. I learned effective strategies for disipline, management and implementing procedures. This was the first full day experience I had as a future teacher. It taught me more than I could ever write here.
My third experience was my final internship. I continued on in the same sixth grade classroom. The only difference was that I was in the classroom for full class days, five days per week. I had an opportunity to work with students with special needs and assist them in completing the classwork. I also was a subsititute teacher in this classroom. It was quite an experience being in a classroom by myself for a full day.
