Teaching Philosophy: My philsophy is that no student should be left behind because of the special needs that they may have. I believe in a lot of inquiry and hands-on learning. It helps students to learn and absorb more information. Students should be treated with respect in the classroom regardless of their ethnic or socio-economic background. Implementing all types of learning styles is important in the classroom to ensure that all students various learning styles are being met. I prefer to follow Bloom's Taxonomy in teaching lessons because it pushes students' thinking past basic knowledge. I believe that students should be responsible for their own learning by knowing the assignment and the expectations that go along with that assignment. I as a teacher will work to assist students who need help and to get students to the point where they are responsible for their own learning.
Career and job goals: My career goals are to finish my Bacholar's of Science in Education degree and begin teaching in a K-5 self-contained classroom. Or I would like to teach 6-8 English in a Middle School classroom setting. I would like to begin teaching by September 2008. Once I begin teaching, I plan to pursue my Master's in Education. I plan to attend as many professional development seminars as I can to improve my teaching ability and to keep up with the latest teaching strategies. I would like to obtain a teaching job in Michigan, but if this is not possible, I plan to get a job in Indiana, Illinois or Ohio.
