Dr. Ikhlas
Abdel-Qader is currently a professor in the Department of Electrical and
Computer Engineering at Western Michigan University (WMU). Dr. Abdel-Qader
received funding in excess of $5 millions from various agencies (National
Science Foundation, Michigan Department of Transportation, Calhoun County,
WMU Foundation, Texas Instruments, and others) to support her research and
teaching interests in medical imaging, image analysis, digital signal
processing, and non-destructive testing and evaluation of civil
infrastructure. Dr. Abdel-Qader’s interests also include retention,
mentorship, and promoting engineering careers to middle and high school
