Implementing the Cherry Commission Recommendations within Michigan's Current Fiscal Climate

This presentation and policy report are the result of a doctoral class collaboration that examined the Cherry Commission's recommendations regarding preparation and completion of post-secondary credentials of merit. The students in my course "EDLD 6890 -- Policy Analysis and Enactment" worked as a team through Fall semester, 2005 to prepare this presentation and final report.

The commision's charge was to recommend ways in which the state could double the number of citizens receiving post-secondary credentials in the next ten years. The class charge was to take those recommendations requiring action by Michigan's 2 and 4 year, public and private post-secondary institutions, and to investigate the current state, best practices, supports, and barriers to reaching the goals set by the commission.
