Personal
This page is about me...your child's teacher. Let me give you some background on my life thus far...
I was born in Sturgis, MI in 1978 to my wonderful parents, Dan and Jackie. I have one sibling, an older brother Ian, who is currently a United States Army helicopter pilot and officer. We lived in Sturgis until I was 10, when my father, who was the fire chief in Sturgis got a new job as chief for the city of Holland MI. Growing up in Holland was an awesome experience, and I wouldn't trade it in for the world. Holland exposed me to the Dutch heritage and culture, and every May we celebrate it with Tulip Time. I participated in Dutch Dance in high school for three fun years...and I'll tell ya, dancing down main street in wooden shoes is something not everyone can say they did. I graduated from Holland High School in 1996 and took off for Western Michigan University.

They say that life is what happens when you are busy making other plans, and that was certainly the case for me. I met my husband Eugene while I was attending WMU, and he was a country boy living back in my old hometown of Sturgis. We fell deeply in love, and I moved back to Sturgis to be with him. In what seemed like the blink of an eye, I had married, bought a new house and had my first child, all before I was 21. Cierra Ray, my sweet red-headed daughter was born to us on July 7th, 1998. I attended Glen Oaks Community College for a year during my pregnancy, but the overwhelming desire to stay home with my child took precedent, and school was put on hold. A brother for Cierra was soon to follow, and on August 24th, 2000, Wyatt Daniel was born. I had a marvelous time with my children while they were young, and I will treasure those sweet days for as long as I live. When Wyatt began kindergarten in 2005, I knew it was time to continue my education and pursue my dream of becoming an elementary teacher. I returned to Glen Oaks in the fall of 2006, and graduated Cum Laude in 2007.
That pretty much brings me to the present, as I am currently attending Western Michigan University pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Elementary Education. I work very hard at my studies, and achieve good grades, so that I can find permanent placement in a good school system when I graduate. I currently reside in Burr Oak, MI a small rural town on the outskirts of Sturgis. I love being so close to much of my family, since they are so important to me. As for what the future brings, only time will tell. But one thing I know for sure is that my wonderful family will be standing by my side supporting me, and that is the most important thing.

I have been very blessed to have been provided with numerous travel experiences throughout my life. As a teenager, I took two caribbean cruises, visiting exotic places like Jamaica, St. Marten, St. Thomas, Barbados, Yucatan Peninsula, Puerto Rico, Cozumel, the Mayan ruins, and others.

Other places I've been...Canada, Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Florida, Alabama, New York (including NYC), Tennessee - the Great Smoky Mountains, and many other U.S. states. I love to tent camp, and my family and I go on several camping trips every summer. I took five years of French, and so, one of my biggest dreams since high school is to go to France. I want to see the Eiffel Tower, eat in a french bistro, walk along the Seine, and visit the Louvre, among many other things. I also want to visit the United Kingdom, Australia, the Mediterranean islands and lots of other international destinations.
