HOMEWORK #1    DUE next class!

READ: Chapter 2-research context, Chapter 3-research ethics, and Chapter 16-interviewing. If you haven’t already, skim Chapter 1.

On Ch. 3 be prepared to discuss the 7 main issues that social workers must be concerned about during the actual research project or activity listed on Page 39 of G & U and use the textbook.

Work alone and write a paper between 500-750 words, double spaced, 12 pt font, Times New Roman font, with student number—NO NAME!, proper grammar and spelling, (if this is a problem email me or see me after class); also please use the WMU writing center—we all can improve on writing.

Cite and discuss a few examples and provide one example in your life or work. Make up a fictional scenario that illustrates examples of ethical issues encountered while interviewing. To answer this question examine both the NASW website: http://www.socialworkers.org/pubs/code/code.asp and p. 6, Box 1.2 in GR & YU.

2.         You only need to read just this webpage and answer the question: What is social research? Feel free to critique anything you disagree with. http://www.socialworkers.org/research/researchMore.asp
