Western Michigan University was founded in 1903 as a regional teachers college, it changed from Western Michigan College to Western Michigan University in 1957 becoming the states 4th public university. 25,000 students from over 80 different countries are enrolled at WMU. These students have around 140 undergrad, 67 masters, and 29 doctoral programs to choose from. To help the students stay busy the university offers 275 registered student organizations to choose from. Also the Campus Activities Board is responsible for scheduling many events on campus that range from $1 Miller Movies to hilarious comedy acts such as "Last Comic Standing Tour". WMU covers about 1200 acres of Michigan with around 150 buildings. It has eight branch campuses in Battle Creek, Benton Harbor-St. Joseph, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Muskegon-Holland, South Haven and Traverse City.
