The Lumbosacral Joint
Spinal Disorders. 10 January 2009. http://www.spinaldisorders.com/spinal/index.php
This website has a great deal of information about the injuries that can occur in the spine. This is a very good site for people to research about injuries of the back and what the signs and symptoms are of each. This website is not for people that think they can find out what is wrong with them by just looking it up; it is more of a research page.
Godard, Hubert. “Reading the Body in Dance.” 1997. 10 February 2009. http://www.seishindo.org/articles/hubert_godard1.html
This website is not necessarily about the anatomy or injuries to the lumbosacral region, but it uses imagery very nicely. This website explains how important the spine is for the “birth” of movement. This website would help dancers when making an exercise program, and to understand how important the spine and pelvis really are.
Rudolf Nureyev Foundation Medical Website. 2007. 10 February 2009. http://www.nureyev-medical.org/
This site had some useful information. The articles but they are fairly short. Having these short of articles helps a busy dancer to find answers quickly, but the information may not be as in depth as they would like.
Gross Anatomy. 2001. 10 February 2009. http://anatomy.uams.edu/anatomyhtml/bonespelvisss.html
This website is a good website for descriptions of the joints and ligaments. This website also has a link to see x-rays of different parts of the body which is very interesting to be able to read an x-ray.
Spine Universe. 1999. 10 February 2009. http://www.spineuniverse.com/displayarticle.php/article2441.html
This website may be very helpful to dancers to enable them to look up different injuries. There is also a part to find specialist that can help with treatment and with self help.
“Assessment and Treatment of Acute Low Back Problems in Adults.” 2005. Webmd. 10 February 2009.
http://www.webmd.com/back-pain/treatment-low-back-pain-adults
This website has many different uses for dancer and the general population. This website shows the different injuries that can happen to the lower back and some different treatments that can be used to stop the pain.
Alvares, Jamie. “Lumbar Spine Stenosis: A Common Cause of Back and Leg Pain.” American Family Physician.
http://www.aafp.org/afp/980415ap/alvarez.html
This website is very helpful in that it tells the causes of the injury and gives pictures of what the inside of body looks like when a certain part is injured. This website tells what the normal anatomy is supposed to look like and then gives what it may look like when injured. This website has so much information about the injury, and it gives information about what the doctor will do if you go in for a check on the injury.
Radebold, Andrea. “Lumbosacral Spine Sprain/Strain Injuries.” 21 November 2007. E-medicine. 11 February 2009.
http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/95444-overview
This website is also very useful because it gives the general population answers and background information. It also gives a different area for athlete biomechanics, which is different from the every day population. It also gives causes, and how to take a history and physical exam.
“Lumbosacral Spin X-ray.” How Stuff Works. 11 February 2009. http://healthguide.howstuffworks.com/lumbosacral-spine-x-ray-dictionary.htm
This website is interesting if a person is going to be getting some kind of picture of the bones in their back. There are many other websites like this that tell how the test is done, what the test does, and what will be on the picture when it comes out.
Surgery of the Spine. 11 February 2009. http://www.brisbanespine.com.au/anatomy.html
This website shows the many different bones, ligaments and protuberances in the spine. It tells where they are located and what their main purpose is. The only bad thing about this website is that it does not have pictures to show where they are located. |
