DANC 3450 Twentieth Century American Dance

PAPER # ONE

Due October 29

DIRECTIONS: Select and sign up on my door for one of the dance artists listed below AND identify a cultural or historical phenomenon or event that had significant impact on the work of the artist. Seek out research material on the artist AND the cultural or historical phenomenon or event. Write a 5-7 page typed, double-spaced paper on your selected subject. Prepare a brief, 5 minute maximum oral presentation highlighting your findings beyond what is discussed in the course text to present in class at the time the artist is covered.

REQUIREMENTS: You must have a minimum of ten sources for your paper. Of those sources, at least one must be:
• From a journal or magazine
• From a book or chapter in a book
• From a website
All original source material must be cited when used in the body of the paper using MLA format. See Gibaldi for citation formats and guidelines. A complete bibliography of all sources consulted in the preparation of this paper must also be included, even if the source is not cited within the body of the paper as an original source. You may NOT use Wikipedia as a source for this paper.
