Today's teacher is much more than the "sage on the stage" divulging information for students to absorb. An effective teacher understands how to differentiate learning for all students and can skillfully engage the interest of the students.
In our technology rich world, integration of technology into classroom lessons is one way for teachers to bridge the gap between the curriculum and their students. Students use technology in a variety of ways in their personal lives (remote controls, cellular telephones, personal music players, etc.); lessons rich with technology can make a "personal" connection with students...this personal connection enhances learning and results in greater rates of retention.
