The job of an IT has been a growing and much needed job since the early 2000’s. Regarding an “IT” persons salary,  “Computer Support Specialists was about $46,260 a year which comes out to around $22.24 an hour. The total number of Computer Support & IT Tech jobs available was around 607,100 in 2010 and is expected to grow by a moderate 18% from 2010 – 2020. This will add nearly 110,000 IT Technician job positions to the market from 2010 – 2020.” (salarybystate) Massachusetts paying around 47,000 per year in 2013 is the ideal pay range.

The job itself comprises of servicing existing systems and accounts, planning daily travel schedules, ordering and gathering components, suggesting improved methods for system improvements, and maintaining customer confidence. (monster hiring) All of which are skills that are honed during training for the field.

Speaking of training, professional certifications are a necessity when looking to be hired. Some of the largest corporations such as, Microsoft, and Apple require high level training to become hired. Programs like MCSE: Private Cloud teach you to set up cloud servers and operate within them. There are also programs like CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) specializing in data security and information architects.
