Welcome back! Hope you had a nice break. A few reminders, phase II of your excel project is due on March 23, and your 2nd exam is on March 26. We would begin the lecture on Hypothesis testing this week. Also, there's a few changes on the tutor lab schedule and my office hours as well (see below). Also, your online homeworks are due every THURSDAY, so please try to meet the deadline. Click on the STAT 216 webpage link for your homework.
I am in my office (Rood 3365) frequently throughout the week, so you can always stop in there.
Questions or concerns about the class itself - grades, exams, structure of the class, etc - should come to me directly.
If you have questions on the course materials though, please try to make the book and the tutor lab your first resources.
The tutor lab times are:
Mon/Wed: 9:00AM - 2:00 PM
The tutor lab is not a replacement for class time. Don't go in there expecting the tutor to teach you a topic from scratch.
(they might be willing to, but that's up to each tutor individually, and how they explain something might differ from how I did).
If you missed class, I would suggest talking to someone in class, or checking below to see what sections you missed and reading through them.
Then try the exercises at the end of each chapter. Then take those exercises to the tutor lab and ask for help on them, they'll be able to confirm that you're on the
right track, or see what you've done so they know where you're making mistakes. That should give you a good start and we can fill in the gaps later.
If you come to my office I will expect that you were either in class or took steps to catch up prior to coming to me.
My office hours are held at the same room as the tutor lab at these days and times:
Mon/Wed: 11:00AM - 12:00NN
Tue: 9:00AM - 2:00 PM
Thurs: 9:00AM - 4:00 PM
Friday: 9:00AM - 10:50 AM
Tues: 10:00AM - 12:00NN
Thurs: 2:00PM - 4:00PM
What we have covered:
If you missed the class, you might want to read your coursepack to catch up.
