Dr. Marlene Breu receives instructions on how to weave a traditional belt by women in Azdavay, Turkey. Many women in Azdavay and the surrounding area continue to produce and use their traditional dress for everyday wear.


Dr.Zeynep Tezel Ozbek of Gazi University in Ankara, Turkey records information during interviews with village women at the Azdavay weekly market in the Black Sea area. Dr Ozbek is collaborating with Dr. Marlene Breu on the study of traditional dress as material culture in Turkey's rural areas, and effects of changes in the dress on families.
