Frostic School of Art Woodshop Take Online Safety Test Requirements for Access to the Woodshop View/Print Orientation Handout (pdf) View Open Shop Hours NEW - Join the “Frostic School of Art Woodshop” Facebook group NEW this year... Open orientation most Fridays at 11 for faculty and students who have not previously attended an orientation session. See woodshop door for schedule. Also, Friday workshops from 1 - 3 covering a wide variety of topics. Check the woodshop door for more information. The woodshop is a support facility for the students and faculty of the Frostic School of Art. Currently enrolled Art students can access the shop during open shop hours and during selected class times to work on art-related projects. Students must attend an orientation session, pass the safety test and perform and pass a skills test on selected woodworking tools to gain access. Read the Woodshop Use Policies for more information about the process. Overview Safety is the first priority – woodworking tools are inherently dangerous. Machines turn sharp saw blades and cutters at high speeds. Accidents happen quickly and can result in severe injury if safety policies and procedures are not followed. Anyone in violation of safety rules will lose their privilege to work in the woodshop. Students are to acquire their own materials for art projects. See Brad Smith (woodshop supervisor) for sources of materials. Open shop hours will be posted on the door of the woodshop (K1140) and on this website weekly every Monday. My goal is to provide a safe, well-organized and inspiring space to work and to assist in bringing ideas from concept to completion.
