DAILY LIFE

Cheaper Taxi :  This is a picture I could take in many places--Arusha in this case, but Nairobi would have worked just as well. This man is pushing a rough cart, hired by people to carry things less expensively than a car, taxi, and so on. The men who push them often work for someone else who owns the vehicle itself, but over time, with patience and a GREAT DEAL of effort, they may be able to own their own cart. Once you own one cart, you can keep acquiring them until you become the entrepreneur--like owning your own taxi or your own semi (truck). So for "daily life" here, we have a nice vehicle parked outside a shop while the middle-class vehicle owner shops inside. We have a man, presumably Maasai given the blanket he is wearing, walking along, and in front we have a man engaged in a day's work. It looks like he's pushing Cart number thirty-seven.
