Northern Tanzania : MATERIAL CULTURE
|
All
of the examples of material culture for this section come from the Iraqw
"cultural village." Were I to offer a material culture sample
from a middle class house in Arusha town, it would resemble the Nairobi
middle class house in many ways. On the other hand, had I been in Karatu
long enough to photograph the house my Iraqw host was living in, we
might see an assortment that included a few of the items pictured here,
together with plastic jugs, other purchased utensils, and probably some
store-bought comfy chairs.
