Building Nkaji Naibor:  Family and neighbors have gotten together to build the "nkaji naibor," a ceremonial house built for a bride "soon" after her wedding. Ideally, it is built within a month, but it can take much longer if the family can't afford the expense associated with it. "Nkaji naibor" means "white house," so called because the house is new: Its poles and hides have not yet been blackened by soot from the house fire.
