ARCHITECTURE
| Girl at House Entrance: Although the sun is very bright, this is a good closeup of a house entrance. You can see the woven "suuti" on the right side of the roof, mixed with old cloth and some hides on the left. Just inside the doorway are a couple of water jugs. You can also see an interior wall directly in front, inside the door. A lowland house typically has a sleeping area for older children, husband, and guests, and a smaller sleeping area near the fire for the house's owner--the woman. Every rural woman builds and owns her own house. |
