If you pay very close attention, you will notice that this house
is constructed just like the lowland house you see in the Lowland House
clips. However, it has clear vinyl sheeting instead of suuti--woven mats--to
cover the roof. Were this nkaji naibor built in the lowlands, it would
have suuti, sainia (frames for the donkeys), and all of the other things
a woman in the lowlands needs. Here in the highlands though, this house
was built just for the ceremony and torn down after the four ceremonial
days were over. A highland house is constructed with a lot of mud and
heavier timber. |
