Now you can see these girls' ornaments in more detail. They are
beautiful and elaborate, composed of beads strung on wire, beads sewn
onto plastic (like the bow ties hanging in front), large buttons, flat
buttons, cloth flowers, tinkling chains with metal disks at the bottom,
and metal ornaments cut into a sort of Celtic cross design. The latter
are hanging on their foreheads from their head ornaments. If you look
at Samburu head ornaments a few decades ago, you will see a simple metal
half moon. Over time, it has become more and more intricate, and what
you see here is the latest style. |
