Lab Members

My job is to train students with the techniques we use, design experiments, analyze data, troubleshoot, and look for funding. Here I am using the image analysis system in the Biological Imaging Center (www.wmich.edu/bios/imagingcenter/)
Bobbie Heard, an M.S. student, is exploring the role of macrophages and microglia in the response to deafferentation of the olfactory bulbs.
Holly Yettaw is an Honors undergraduate student who has worked in the lab since she was a sophomore in high school! She is examining the changes in mitral cell morphology following deafferentation. Here is Holly sectioning some paraffin tissue.
Gretchen Holt is an undergraduate student working on finding a reliable marker for macrophages and microglia in the zebrafish olfactory bulb.
Past Lab Members
Akiko VanKirk received her M.S. degree in December 2000. Her thesis explored the role of apoptosis in the deafferentation response. Here she is viewing her slides on our scope. Akiko now works at the Van Andel Research Institute in Grand Rapids.
Marleah Russo worked in the lab for 2 years as an undergraduate. She is now working at the Van Andel Research Institute in Grand Rapids.
