AVS 221 & 222 Professional Flight Theory and Lab
This was one of the first experiences I had flying and airplane. Until I took these two classes I was still a little unsure as the weather I wanted to make a career out of aviation. The theory section was not nearly as exciting as actually getting into a small airplane leaving the ground. Nothing is more freeing than the view from 10,000 feet and that view showed me that I have for certain chosen the right profession for myself.

AVS 306 Advanced Aerodynamics and Performance
Advanced aerodynamics was the second aerodynamics class I took. The first was a large lecture and was just the basics of aerodynamics. The advanced class a year later brought everything I had learned in the past into a whole new light. I understood a few things about how airplanes flew before it but afterwards I felt confident discussing very complex aerodynamics concepts.

AVS 319 Aviation Legislation
Legal issues in the aviation industry can be very complex and confusing. This class taught me what to do if I ever get into any sort of legal trouble with the Federal Aviation Administration. The class was relatively easy to do well in but the experience was better than any I could have hoped for. At the end of the last class session The professor who was a practicing aviation lawyer spent half an hour giving us advice that I have already had a few opportunities to use. He covered everything from making sure you have a lawyer when you get in trouble to how to keep your marriage from going bad when you don't get to spend too much time at home. This class in particular was probably the single most beneficial in my entire time at Western Michigan University.

AVS 427 Airline Administration
I am still currently enrolled in this class but it has already benefited me in many ways so I feel it is very important for me to include it. The basic idea of the class is that we will learn how to run an airline. I don't think I know everything yet but so far it is very exciting. The big project that we have to turn in at the end of the semester is a business plan for a start up airline. Our Professor has a very advanced airline simulator and we will be graded on how well our business plan does when it is put into real world situations.

MKTG 250 Marketing Principles
This class focused on the basics of marketing. Until this class I did not really appreciate all the work that goes into getting a product that nobody knows about sold. I actually found marketing to be rather interesting though I have never considered it for a career. The professor understood that many of the students in the class were not actually interested in marketing as a profession so he dedicated a portion of the class to personal marketing. In this part of the course I learned a little bit about how to make myself personally more appealing to employers.
