Teachers
I know that I am always in search of ideas to supplement my program, and I am guessing that many other teachers would like a jump-start at times, as well. This page contains two lesson plans that I created which will help incorporate technology into the classroom. It also has links to lesson plan websites, professional teacher organizations, and other helpful resources. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to click on the "Contact Me" link at the bottom of the page. Thanks for your interest, and I hope that you can find what you are looking for!
Lesson Plans Integrating Technology
Lesson Plan Websites
This site has thousands of lessons in subjects ranging from mathematics and language arts to music and computers. Obviously, lessons would need to be individually evaluated before they should be used in the classroom, but there are definitely some good ideas available. You can also choose the grade level for which you need the lesson.
Rather than being just a single site, this is actually a search engine which can search a variety of lesson plan sites for very specific topics, such as "the rainforest." Not all of the results are free lesson plans, but many of them are.
This is a searchable site that truly offers lesson plans on almost every subject that someone would want to teach in an elementary setting. The one problem with this website is that although you can get a 7-day free trial, you must pay to become a member, which is $20-$25 a year.
Professional Organizations
I found the links below on the Teacher/Pathfinder website.
Other information I have compiled
Exam Info (English Folklore, Myths, and Legends)
Exam Links (Links regarding English Folklore, Myths, and Legends)
Mexican Culture Resource Site (Final Team Project)
Interesting links
MeL (Michigan eLibrary) Databases
Every teacher in Michigan needs to be aware of this wonderful resource. Who knew that just for living in the Great Lakes state we could have access to free article databases?
North Central Regional Educational Laboratory (NCREL®)
"As a member of the Regional Educational Laboratory Network, NCREL is dedicated to providing high-quality, research-based resources to educators and policymakers in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin." (quote taken verbatim from NCREL website)
Although designed with parents in mind, many of the activities on this website could be tailored to meet the needs of teachers, as well.
Although this is a subscription service, it is incredibly useful for planning units and creating lessons and rubrics. It even has lists of all of the standards in an easy, step-by-step form which makes matching your lessons to standards very simple.
Weber County recommended reading for fourth-graders
This site includes a large variety of picture and chapter books that offer a diverse array of themes. Many of these books could be used for cultural and critical literacy in the classroom.
