Welcome to Carrie's Site

Welcome to my web site! My name is Carrie Jacques and I am a student at Western Michigan University. The web site you are about to explore discusses various special education terms and mandates, looks at various lesson plans, and also looks at resources for future special education teachers and parents of children with disabilities. The resource page is a page for all teachers and future teachers. It has many great sites for parents, teachers, and students.

My Education

I graduated high school in 2002 from Escanaba High School. It is located in Delta County which is in the Upper Peninsula. Since I began high school I knew I wanted to work with children with disabilities. After I graduated from high school I attended Bay De Noc Community College which is located in Escanaba, Michigan. After going there for a year I transferred to Western Michigan University where I was accepted into their Special Education Program. I began this program my Junior year and I have completed all the courses, and have yet to finish my minor. During my time in the program I had some wonderful experiences's in two elementary schools and two middle schools. In January 2007 I will begin my student teaching. When I have completed my intern teaching I will receive a degree to teach secondary students with emotional impairments and learning disabilities and also be certified for elementary students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

My Teaching Philosophy

To my children and parents: I want the parents to know how much I enjoyed my educational experience and I want the same for their children. I will do everything possible to make sure the students both enjoy and learn in my classroom. For the children I want them to know how much I value their presence and can't wait to embark on the learning experience with them. I want them to understand that sometimes succeeding is merely just giving whatever they can!
