The Sixties
The 1960s was the most unique and creative period in time. The sixties revolutionized the world of fashion, music, and art. From the echoing of “White Rabbit” on the hills of San Francisco, to the blistering guitars of the Velvet Underground on the East coast, music attributed to the revolution that would change the world; for a little while. The era left an impact and is still a part of the culture we have adapted today. However, the exact same spirit has yet to be repeated.
There are three icons that I believe stick out most in the worlds of art, fashion, and music. In the world of art, Andy Warhol, changed the way people looked at the world. His art started on the East Coast and eventually word spread to California. One of the greatest musicians of all time, Bob Dylan, got his start in the sixties. Bob Dylan represented a type of spiritual leader in the quest for peace during the Vietnam War. Lastly, the fashion world took a whole new turn when an expressive Edie Sedgwick showed up on the New York scene. Her style led her to become a little known designer’s first model. That designer was Betsey Johnson.
These three were eventually linked together in the sixties. They ended up meeting and encountering each other in the late sixties.
