"The critical question here is whose future, story, and interests does the school represent. . . Critical pedagogy argues that school practices need to be informed by a public philosophy that addresses how to construct ideological and institutional conditions in which the lived experience of empowerment for the vast majority of student becomes the defining feature of schooling" -- Henry Giroux.

Making schooling more applicable requires venturing beyond traditional school practices and common educational outcomes. Educators must design curriculum that emphasizes critical literacy and social education.

This site is devoted to teachers interested in promoting equity of opportunity. Feel free to use this website as a tool for furthering social justice in society and in the classroom, and as a place to foster communication among educators interested in critical teaching.
