Below are several links to interesting and useful websites. Students many find some of the sites listed beneficial for classwork, and that is my intent in including them here. Other sites provide information for students to keep abreast of current events. Finally, some sites are included here simply for fun.
US Government Links:
Other Links:
- GovTrack.us - www.govtrack.us **This is a privately operated site that tracks what Congress is currently working on, tracking the status of federal legislation. Its descriptions of the various pieces of legislation includes such helpful items as which committees the bill was referred to and where the bill is currently in the overall process.
- Interest Group Lists ** Two websites offer solid lists of interest groups operating in US domestic policy, organized by policy area.
- Think Tanks/Research Institutes - www.lib.umich.edu/govdocs/psthink.html ** This site not only provides a solid list of individual think tank websites, but it also lists other aggregations that have been put together.
- Office of Student Conduct - http://www.osc.wmich.edu/ **This site provides a copy of the Student Handbook as well as the procedures for cases of academic dishonesty.
News Links:
News Aggregators:
- Drudge Report - www.drudgereport.com **The Drudge Report provides breaking news links as well as links to all major news outlets as well as to several well-noted columnists and pundits.
- Fark - www.fark.com **This site provides links to humorous news stories from around the world, but be aware that it can contain crude humor. If you are easily offended, I do not recommend it.
- Huffington Post - www.huffingtonpost.com ** The Huffington Post offers left-wing blogs and commentary on current news and policy issues, as well as some breaking news (though not as much breaking news as the Drudge Report).
