Colegiate Objective |
I came in to college unsure of what I wanted to have a career in after I graduate. My first semester at WMU I attempted the Paper Engineering major provided by WMU's engineering school and found myself uninterested. The following semester of my first year I attempted the Computer Engineering Major at WMU and again found myself highly uninterested. My Sophomore year I came in with no idea of where I should go with my pursuit to find a career fit for me. I had considered Business as well as a career in the sciences. After careful consideration and intensive research I found that the best career for me would be one where I could not only use sceintific practices, but also something where I can help for the benefit of mankind. This is how I came to the choice of picking Biomedical Sciences as my official major. The pathways I can take to find a career I am intersted in with this major are vast. The practical use of science, mathmatics, and physics is something I feel I can appreciate, while at the same time feeling I have a sense of purpose to problem solve and create solutions for humane benefit. Now that I have carefully decided on a major, where do I go from here? My goals include solving this question by not only using the resources WMU has given me, but also resources I can find myself. I am getting involved in various volunteer opportunities, one involving volunteering at a hospital. I also plan on finding a clinic where I can get a job to help research involving biomedical research. With all of this preparation, I know I will be ready when the time comes, I will be able to decide what I will do with my degree after gradution. I have already narrowed down my choices to this: 1. If I choose biomedical research, I will pursue a PhD. 2. If I choose to become a doctor, I will pursue Medical School. I know that through involvement and preparation I will be ready for whatever path I choose to take.
