About Me:

My name is Erica Reckow. I am currently a sophomore at Western Michigan University majoring in Exercise Science. After graduating from Western I plan to continue my education by pursuing a degree in Physical Therapy, preferably from Grand Valley.

I currently work in the Arts and Sciences Advising office as a receptionist. During the summer I waitress and bartend at The Glenwood in Onekama, MI.

At Western I am involved in Phi Epsilon Kappa fraternity and intramural volleyball. Some day I hope to make the Western Club Volleyball team. I am also a Lee Honors College student and have made the Dean's List every semester thus far. I also have an interest in becoming a RA.

I have a very expanded family. First there's my dad, John. Then my mom, Laurie, and step-dad, Lonnie. I have two sisters, too. Amanda is the oldest, followed by me, and then my little sister Andria. I also have a baby brother, Brandon. My sister Amanda has two kids of her own: Savannah and Perrin.

I grew up in a small town outside of Manistee, MI and graduated from Onekama High School. Most of you have probably never heard of it--that's how small it is! The only thing remarkable about it is it's location. It's only 5 minutes away from Lake Michigan!

In high school I was very involved. I was class president my junior and senior years, as well as NHS treasurer, Student Council secretary, and Onekama LEO Club member. I was also in choir in tenth grade and band throughout high school. In addition, I participated in basketball in the fall, volleyball in the winter, and track in the spring throughout high school and dance team my senior year. My senior year I was also awarded Female Athlete of the Year.

In basketball I was the center, or post. It was a difficult role because even though I was tall, I was no where near the biggest girl on the court. All of my hard work paid off my senior year when I was voted team captain.

In volleyball I was a designated hitter. At the end of my freshman year I was brought up to play on the varsity team for the district tournament. I played on the varsity team from then on. My senior year I was made captain and awarded MVP.

In track my events included the 300m hurdles, the 100m hurdles, the 800m relay, and the 1600m relay. My junior year I qualified for the state finals in the 300m hurdles and my senior year in the 100m hurdles. My senior year I was also awarded MVP and co-captain of the girls varsity track team.

In ten years I see myself being married, starting a family, and working as a physical therapist. I would also like to coach a high school or college volleyball team some day.
