Course Description
Introduction to basic principles of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with applications to a variety of problems using established data sources and repositories. Includes fundamental principles of cartographic design and communication. Participants of this course are expected to acquire basic skills of cartography by: becoming familiar with principles of map design, map construction and graphic communication, using sets of data to compute mapping parameters, and becoming a productive user of the ArcView GIS software package.
