STUDY GUIDE

Be prepared to lead an improvisational experience with your classmates. The improvisation can be instrumental or movement-based (or combinations of modalities) in nature. If your improvisation is primarily a movement experience, it will need to incorporate music; live, MIDI-generated, or recorded music can be used and should be done so with a specific and clearly observable facilitative purpose.
Your improvisation can have a specific population with related goals/objectives, however, this is not a requirement and the experience can be more general in nature. This is not permission for your improvisational experience to be lacking in structure, coherence of logic, and purpose, rather, an invitation for you to use your creativity and critical thinking abilities unbound by the restraints of common clinical practice with diagnosed participants.
We will need to conduct the experiences in the clinic, so be aware of the space constraints.
Given the number of students in the class, each of you will have approximately 15 minutes for the live implementation of your improvisation which will incorporate any introduction, the experience itself, and follow-up (discussion, reflections, etc.) Warm-up experiences, regardless of modality are not appropriate. Your improvisation experience should reflect the depth and breadth of information that you have attained this semester as well as your ability to synthesize that information into a meaningful improvisational experience.
Please provide a typed description of your improvisation experience to the instructor as well as enough copies for your classmates. There is no pre-conceived form - just be clear, concise, and comprehensive.
