He was even more stunned when Tim asked Dave to play with him the first time Dave ever heard him. Since then, they have been playing shows every year. They had a live album released in 1996 entitled Live at Luther College. Not only do they perform Dave Matthews Band songs, but Dave also gives Tim time to play many of his songs.

Most of the songs on the first three albums were written by Dave before there was a Dave Matthews Band. He released his first solo album in 2003 titled Some Devil.
