The Arctic’s ice is melting and making the natural resources in the region more accessible. That is because of global warming, the temperature have gotten hotter in the Arctic (“Who owns,” 2007). For instance, experts’ recorded an increasing in the temperature inside the Arctic of seven degrees Fahrenheit in the last 60 years (Borgerson, 2008). Consequently, the Arctic’s ice is disappearing which will free the ice cap from the ice. That is, the natural resources will be easier to obtain and will open the water routes to let the ships go through it. Moreover, the 5 countries around the Arctic such as Russia, Denmark, Canada, Norway and the United States of America want to be in charge of the territories for this reason (Graff, 2007).
