When you hear the phrase Swedish American you probably don't think construction and mining equipment, but maybe you should. Atlas Copco North America operates throughout the US and Canada for Swedish manufacturing giant Atlas Copco AG. The company's business includes manufacturing compressors and generators, construction and mining equipment, and power tools. Its line of power tools features air assembly tools, grinders, drills, air motors, hoists and trolleys, and related services. Demolition equipment, rock drills, blast hole drilling rigs, and exploration drilling tools comprise a list of its mining and construction products.

 

TRW Automotive Holdings Corp.

TRW Automotive now has Blackstone Group at the wheel. The private investment group purchased TRW Automotive from its parent company, TRW Inc., in a deal valued at more than $4.7 billion. Northrop Grumman, which bought TRW for its defense assets, still holds a 10% stake in TRW Automotive. The company makes components for automakers such as Ford (16% of sales), DaimlerChrysler (14%), Volkswagen (14%), and General Motors (11%). Products include chassis systems (brake, steering, and suspension systems) and safety systems such as airbags, security electronics, and seat belts. Other products include fasteners, body controls, and engine valves.
