AT HOME AND IN THE COMMUNITY

My wife Casey and I moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1989. We're orignally from Vermont and New York. Prior to my arrival at WMU, I taught three years at the State University of New York at New Paltz and was Senior Business Editor for Telecommunications Magazine in Boston. I received my Ph.D.from Ohio University in 1986 where I specialized in Telecommunications.

My wife Casey is Manager of Rehabilitation Services at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo where she is responsible for five sites. Casey received her MBA from Michigan State University. She began her career in Speech Pathology where she worked during my graduate years in the foothills of Appalachia in southeast, Ohio and West Virginia. She later did speech pathology at Mass. General Hospital in Boston and served as a unit coordinator.

We have one son, named Matthew. He is a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. His first love is soccer and played for both the K. Central varsity team and Grand Valley Premiere which is a regional club based in Grand Rapids, Michigan - representing players throughout southwest, Michigan. He is a student at Western Michigan University.

Since coming to Kalamazoo, we've been steadily restoring an old house that was built in 1927. When I'm not teaching and writing, I spend a lot of time fixing, sanding and painting our house. We also have a dog named Jake.
