Designers should have users in mind whenever they make design decisions. We should use safe size table grids because some users have older monitors. We add alternate text because people with disabilities are unable to convert images into a readable format. We keep in mind that not every user has the latest version of browsers, operationg systems, or computers, so we design with older monitors, browsers, and computers in mind.
The focus on the convenience and accessibility of the site to allow a maximum amount of users to benefit from your site in known as user centered design.
