Scannability

A typical web user does not read the text on the computer monitor word for word as he/she would on a printed page. Web users tend to scan the page first by reading the headings and subheadings and highlighted words and try to get the main ideas contained on that page.

As designers who want to make it easier for visitors to get the information on our webpages. we should try to make the text more scannable. There are several suggested strategies Break up the text into smaller paragraphs and create more meaningful subheadings.

  1. Break up the text into smaller paragraphs and create more meaningful subheadings.
  2. Highlight keywords- bold them, give them color, etc.
  3. Create bullet and numbered lists whenever possible
