PERSONAL INFORMATION

Welcome!

I am currently teaching full-time at East Kentwood High School in Kentwood, Michigan. As a member of the social studies department I have taught Civics, Law and Legal Issues, U.S. History and Model United Nations. In addition, I am the club advisor of the Model U.N. Team.

Besides teaching at the secondary level, I also am a part-time faculty member in the Educational Studies Department at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. For the last three years I have been teaching ES 395: School and Society, a course that examines the foundations of American education.

I am a member of the Michigan Council for Social Studies and involved in the Center for Civic Education through Law.

I also taught seven years at Traverse City West Senior High School as a member of both the social studies and Humanities departments. The last three years at TCWSH I was head of the Social Studies Department.

I graduated with distinction from the University of Michigan earning a B.A. in Political Science in 1992. Major coursework also included Russian language and literature. In 1993 I was accepted into the MaC Program, an intensive one-year Master's Program with Certification, at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. During my Master's work I was placed at Community High School where I completed my pre-service teaching work.
