Mattawan Softball

My family and I moved to Mattawan, MI when I was very young. When we moved my parents enrolled my brother and I in the local little league. I was fortunate enough to be able to learn so much through Mattawan Little League and grow into the softball player I am today. Softball has became my way of life for the past 13 years. I have dedicated a great deal of time and effort into this game I love. I was lucky enough to be able to grow up in what some would call a “softball community.” That is, the little village that Mattawan is has had a very successful softball program for many years.

The success started when I was young, our little league team won our first state championship in 2005. The older girls above me then went on to win not only a state championship in 2006 but also the Little League World Series held in Portland, Oregon. That success continued into 2007 with yet another state championship.

MHSAA state champions

After my little league days we all moved onto high school where we carried over our success. My freshman year we fell short losing in the regional championship game. That motivated us my sophomore year (2011) where we steamrolled teams to win my school's first ever MHSAA state chamionship.

The following year we had a huge target on our backs and made it back to the state championship game but fell just short in a heartbreaking loss in the bottom of the 10th inning. Finally my senior year of highschool was upon us, which meant one more chance to get our last trophy. Against all odds and everyone who doubted us, we made our way to the state championship for the third year in a row (which is a very hard thing to do) and we won another state title.
