ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND PROCEDURES

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The applicant must be a graduate of an accredited university or college and have at least a 3.0 grade point average. All applicants must be either BOC certified or have fulfilled all requirements to take the BOC exam. GRE scores are not required but we encourage you to submit your scores.

ADMISSION PROCEDURES

1. Complete and return the Graduate Athletic Training Education Application. You can request the application or download it from this webpage (the application was created to allow the user to type the required information). Attach official transcripts, one COPY of your GRE scores (if applicable), and your resume with the application and return it to the graduate athletic training program director prior to Feb 16, 2007 or until all positions are filled. Please call or email to determine status after March.

2. Have three letters of recommendation (forms provided in application packet); one from a supervising athletic trainer, one from an individual who can substantiate your academic potential, and one of your choice. You may choose to have all letters included with the application but they must have the signature across the seal. Letters of recommendations should accompany the application but may also be mailed separately or faxed at 269-387-2704.

3. You must be officially accepted to the Graduate College before being considered for admission into the graduate athletic training program. The Graduate College application will be included in the application packet if you request a hard copy of the application materials. It is strongly encouraged that you apply to the graduate college via the graduate college admission link online at http://www.wmich.edu/grad. The graduate program code for the graduate athletic training program is called Physical Education (PEG). If returning the materials via mail, please use the buff envelope and write "Graduate Athletic Training-HPER" on the line listed for graduate study.

4. Campus interviews are highly recommended. You will be contacted to arrange an interview after we have received your completed application (interviews may occur prior to the application deadline). You will be able to stay with a current graduate student, but must supply your own transportation to WMU.

5.  Be sure to follow all instructions on the application forms, including the application for financial assistance found in the application instructions of the graduate college application.

7. Final decisions of acceptance into the Graduate Athletic Training Program will occur by or prior to April 1 or until all positions are filled.
