All students who are accepted into the graduate athletic training
program are automatically provided with an assistantship. All assistantships
pay $14,700 for the first year and $14,700 for the second year (negotiations are currently in progress to increase approximately $1,000 more per year). Currently,
there are several openings in the following areas: WMU athletics (2 openings),
WMU Sports Medicine Clinic (1 opening), and area High Schools (8 openings). Although you may request a particular
assistantship, placements are determined by the graduate athletic training
selection committee.
Assistantships:
1) You will be paid bi-weekly for the academic year
(18 pay periods total for the fall and spring semesters) and 4 pay periods for the summer 1 session. This pay scheme will be identical for the second year of the program.
2) Students are responsible for tuition. Please visit the WMU Graduate College Webpage for specific rates
3) All out-of-state students can apply for in-state residency during their second year. This process will cut tuition in half. Applications and instructions will be provided upon
acceptance.
4) Student fees, books, and Health Insurance are the
sole responsibility of the student.
