Western Michigan's 2003 football team of 103 coached by Gary Darnell had a good season and played some tough teams as well. They had 5 wins and 7 losses. They played Michigan State, William & Mary, Virginia, Ohio, Eastern Michigan, Bowling Green, Northern Illinois, Marshall, Connecticut, Ball State, Central Michigan, and Toledo. They beat William & Mary, Ohio, Eastern Michigan, Ball State, and Central Michigan. The team plays all their home games at Waldo Stadium where they have played for the past 65 years.
