John A. Stempien John Stempien, a Michigan native, earned his Bachelor's Degree and Secondary Education Teacher's Certificate through The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1997. He is currently working towards completion of his Masters in Public History at Western Michigan University. He has served as a Museum Director at the Liberty Hyde Bailey Museum in South Haven, Michigan. From April 2004-December 2005 he helped design the Educator's Guide and website for the Southwest Michigan's Fruit Belt Project through an internship at the Ft. Miami Heritage Society of Michigan. He also serves as Chair for the Otsego Area Historical Society. As an alternative education instructor for Lowell Area Public Schools, he currently resides with his family in Southwest Michigan, enjoying the fruits of the region.
