BUS2700 Self Evaluation

After taking and applying the concepts that I have learned in BUS270, I have gained greater knowledge in the fields of business information systems. I have gained a better understanding of how they work and what they are made of. Some of the programs that I was able to work with were purchasing programs such as Microsoft’s Great Plains and SAP. These programs gave me hands on experience of what it is like for companies to create and complete purchasing orders. They allowed me to place my orders, track them, keep track of important financial records and allow me to find out when my inventory gets low. These programs will help me very much when going into my career choice of supply chain management. In this field, employees conduct all of these business activities that I have learned how to use in BUS270. Aside from learning about these purchasing programs, I was able to get a better understanding about the internet and what makes up the different networks that we use every day. I learned the importance of business e-commerce and how fast it is growing on a global level. Learning about computer infrastructure and network infrastructure gave me a better understanding about the networks that we use and how different ones are used for different purposes. Lastly learning about different organizational views and demensions helped me understand all the types of business functions that companies use in order to make their business successful. Not to mention, the different views and world dimensions that they have to deal with. BUS270 has given me the opportunity to understand how businesses use different methods to conduct their day to day operations. It has also given me an understanding of how to use purchasing orders. I am glade I had the opportunity to take BUS270 and I know that in the future I will use everything I learned in this class in the business field of supply chain management.
