ANHEUSER BUSCH DESCRIPTION Anheuser-Busch Companies (A-B) wants to be the life of the party, whether with its brews or its theme parks. The company is one of the world's largest brewers, one of the largest theme park operators and manufacturers of aluminum cans in the US, and the largest recycler of aluminum cans in the world. Anheuser-Busch leads the US with a market share of just about 50%, and Budweiser is one of the nation's top-ranked beers. The company makes more than 30 different beers, including Bud Light, Michelob, and Busch. It operates theme parks Busch Gardens and SeaWorld, and water parks Water Country USA and Adventure Island. Chairman August Busch III is the fourth generation of the Busch family to run Anheuser-Busch.
MOLSON COORS BREWING CO. DESCRIPTION Molson Coors Brewing Company (formerly Adolph Coors Company) plays with the big boys: The company is the fifth largest brewer by volume in the world. Its most popular brand is Coors Light, nicknamed "The Silver Bullet." The company markets about a dozen beers in the US, including Blue Moon Belgian White Ale, George Killian's Irish Red Lager, and Keystone. Molson Coors also makes Zima and Coors Non-Alcoholic (Coors NA). In 2005 Coors merged with Canadian brewer Molson, adding such brands as Black Ice and Rickard's Red Ale to the company's refreshment roster. The Coors family owns about 27% of the company; Keystone Financing owns about 11%; and company chairman Eric Molson and Stephen Thomas Molson own about 10%. |
